Thomas P. Aicher has been engaged in trial practice since 1991 and is regularly involved with Vermont’s winter and summer resorts and sports injury claims (including defense of skiing, snowboarding, and other injury claims) against resort operators and adventure sports businesses. He handles a wide range of personal injury claims against a variety of Vermont businesses and individuals, which have included wrongful death, catastrophic injury losses such as head injury, and spinal cord injury.

Other defense practice areas include employment wrongful discharge and discrimination claims as well as lawyers’ professional liability/malpractice. He is retained by several insurance companies to defend personal injury and property loss cases in both commercial and personal lines ranging from slip and falls and auto claims to directors and officers liability, mold exposure, construction failures, and other claims.

Mr. Aicher is also involved with product liability issues for manufacturers, including manufacturers of consumer products, recreational sports products, automobile parts and repairs, helmets, and industrial product failure claims.

In 2016, Mr. Aicher was named a Special Counsel to the National Ski Areas Association acting as national counsel to the ski industry on risk management issues and judicial trends. He is a frequent presenter on risk management to ski patrol, ski school, mountain operations, and resort leadership. In addition to snowsports, he has been involved with sporting injury claims resulting from the use or operation of snowmobiles, ATVs, golf carts, as well as participation in tennis, equine, bicycling, and zipline. He is the past president of the Association of Ski Defense Attorneys.

Mr. Aicher has carried the AV Preeminent Rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings Program since 2012.

Mr. Aicher lives in Castleton, Vermont with his son, Jack.  They enjoy snowsports, biking, and other outdoor family adventures.
